In mid-2005 Forest River, Inc., made a decision to add another bus division allowing for focus on government funded commercial shuttle buses. In January of 2006, Elkhart Coach opened the doors to a 15,000 square foot production facility, produced a handful of demo units to showcase nationwide, and found the dealer base was immediately accepting. Three months later, all vehicles being built were already sold, and the brand grew exponentially over the coming years.
